Dining Chair Cushions
Chair cushions add needed softness to hard wooden kitchen and dining room chairs, but choosing dining room chair cushions that don’t overpower the kitchen set isn’t easy. You can pick up a set of chair cushions for $5 at the local dollar store – but will they fit into your room’s decor – or detract from your style? Cheap chair pads are filled with thin, durable fabric and poor quality work.
If you take the trouble to choose well-made, quality decorative seat cushions for your kitchen or dining room set, you’ll be rewarded with a set that lasts longer, is far more comfortable and requires less care in the long run. You must take these things into account when choosing chair cushions for wooden chairs. Pick the right size for the seat – if the cushion is too small, it will be uncomfortable. If the size is too large it won’t look nice, plus the chair edges where the cushions overlap cause extra wear and shorten their lifespan.
Be sure to inspect any ties sewn into the seam of the cushion. The ties or straps on a chair cushion get pulled and tugged frequently from everyday use. Ties have a much better chance of staying attached if they are sewn into the seam.
Buy garden cushions treated with stain guard to make it easy to keep them clean. If the perfect cushions are not stain resistant, Invest in a can of stain resist or stain guard to keep them looking fresh and new. Ultimately this kitchen belongs to you and it is the place where your children eat their meals, isn’t that so? When choosing chair cushions, look for either washable ones or ones with removable, washable covers. Some spills are going to soak in even with stain guard. The convenience of being able to throw your chair cushions in the laundry will simplify your life. Be sure to pick cushions in a durable fabric, that is able to stand up to the wear of lots of seating.
Corduroy, denim, chintz, canvas and duck are all good choices for fabric that wears like iron. Check rolled edges, piping and ruffles closely to be sure they are all straight and firmly sewn into the seam between the top and the bottom of the cushion. Check carefully for any seam and the gap between the rest and give some of the ruffle tug of the pipeline to ensure that it will not easily free of charge. Tufted cushions are pretty – but they can be uncomfortable if you sit on them for long periods of time. Make sure, when choosing tufted cushions, make sure the buttons are sewn through all the layers of the chair cushion to avoid losing buttons to wriggling bottoms.
