Pregnancy Yeast Infection

Posted: under General Interest.

A yeast infection is not an early sign of pregnancy, and the existance of the condition cannot cause a pregnancy test to be erroneously positive either. Usually, only pregnancy causes positive test results. A pregnancy yeast infection can be caused by being pregnant (or other hormonal changes) though.

Is Pregnancy Possible with a Yeast Infection?

Yeast infections cannot harm your chances of getting pregnant. There are some people that say if you have the infection for a long period of time without it being treated it can cause problems, but this is extremely rare and highly unlikely.

Is It Common During Pregnancy for a Yeast Infection?

It is said that 20% of woman will get a pregnancy yeast infection because of increase in hormones and bacteria.

It is generally not harmful to an unborn baby but should be treated more carefully, so you won’t pass the infection to your baby during the birth. Left untreated, the baby could develop the yeast infection in the form of thrush in the mouth. This is not dangerous to the baby and is easily treated should it occur.

What Are The Symptoms?

The symptoms of a pregnancy yeast infection generally build up over 1 to 3 days, and include an intense vaginal itch, irritation, soreness, burning and redness in the vagina, and a thick, white vaginal discharge. If you have any or all of these symptoms, it is advisable to seek further advice and guidance from your local physician. Don’t leave it unchecked.

How Do You Treat a Pregnancy Yeast Infection?

Yeast infections may be harder to control when you’re pregnant. They may require frequent treatment or longer treatment (10 to 14 days instead of 3 to 7 days).

Vaginal creams or suppositories used for treatment are safe during pregnancy, although most physicians recommend avoiding treatment during the first trimester. If you develop a yeast infection, it is safe for you to use over-the-counter products, such as Monistat. However, if you are early in your pregnancy (i.e. before 12 weeks), use the cream externally only. After 12 weeks, it is safe to gently use the applicator internally.

If you don’t have success with over-the-counter medication, you may want to try Boric acid, which is very mild. It won’t harm you but will alter the vaginas pH level slightly discouraging yeast growth. Probiotics are also useful in combating pregnancy yeast infections since they build up your healthy bacteria.

Feline Querries and Responses on Training a Cat and More

Posted: under General Interest.

Q: Is it possible to train a cat?

A: Yes, training a cat is not as impossible as most individuals imagine it is. Cats are not as responsive to training as dogs are but they are trainable. Tasty rewards offered as positive reinforcement is certainly the surest route to successful cat training.

Q: Why and how do cats purr?

A: Grown cats purr because they are happy and contented and to manipulate humans — Can you resist a purring kitty? Kittens purr in answer to their mother cat’s purr to assist in bonding them. It is usually thought that the purring is a vibration of the larynx as air is pushed though it. It is also believed that purring is a voluntary action.

Q: What is the reason quite a few folks are allergic to cats?

A: Cat allergies are caused by the proteins in cat dander generated from the cat’s saliva. The dander dries and becomes airborne. People with cat allergies demonstrate an allergic reaction because their immune system is trying to fight the alien protein and creates histamines.

Q: How do you break unwanted cat behavior such as nipping?

A: The best way to curtail undesirable cat behavior is the same way the mother cat controls an errant kitten. This is by scuffing the cat. You firmly but gently grasp the cat by the scruff of the neck and hold it down until it calms down. You should do this at the time of the undesirable behavior.

Q: How do you litter train a cat?

A: You really shouldn’t be required to do any training for a cat to make use of a litter box, but if your adult cat has begun to avoid the litter pan you need to figure out why. The cat may have a urinary tract infection in which case you need to go to the veterinarian. If it is just too dirty you need to keep it cleaner. If you have started using litter you may have to change back or sprinkle a little catnip in the litter to attract the cat to the new litter.

Q: How do you keep cats off counter tops?

A: This is one of the most asked about cat behavior problems and can be a challenging one. Cats like elevated platforms and they often find food or food odors on counters and tables. It is best to keep the surfaces clean and to use something like foil or double sided tape to keep cats off the counters.

Home Wind Power

Posted: under General Interest.

Wind power home electrical generators have previously been expensive, but they are quickly becoming competitively priced alternatives to other energy resources. There are various regulations that may impede someone trying to purchase and install wind generators, but there is usually a best fit for everyone. Wind generators provide cheap energy, and are also extremely cheap energy producers. However, one must remain wary of the variation in amount of energy they can produce. Wind Generators have also been known to cause headaches and minor problems for birds; however, this should not be a big deal as the environmental benefit of the generators far outweighs their negative effects. If a wind generator sounds right for you, give one a try.

The advantages of wind power may indeed be the future of energy as we know it. As their prices descend and they become more affordable, they will become a crucial cog in the energy grid of tomorrow. For those who want to get in on the ground floor today, there are currently many purchase options. While there are a variety of specific brands and types of wind generator products one could buy, there are also various regulations one must make sure to follow before and after purchase.

If in a neighborhood or more dense residential area, one must keep in mind that even a micro wind turbine will protrude and be part of the skyline, and therefore the owner should first get consent from its neighborhoods governing body. Also very important is exactly what type of turbine the purchaser is looking to get. There are many different types, from small that can power small portable batteries to large ones that can power houses. These can be determined from various wind maps the US Department has released to document what type of turbine can most efficiently generate power in different regions.

So let us say you get past all the regulations and are seriously deciding whether or not to buy a wind generator. There are a few things to keep in mind. First, while wind generators can provide great cheap energy, they also have variable amounts of energy they produce on a daily basis. Therefore it is tough to rely on them as a sole source of energy. Another serious snafu in owning wind generators are the effects of having huge churning propellers near your property. It has been documented that these generators hum and cause considerable low frequency humming and vibration. These have been known to cause those living near them to have splitting headaches.

Still, all these minor repercussions can be trumped by the advantages. Firstly, wind power is much cheaper than almost all types of other power. If you are able to find an efficient location the energy you cultivate from the wind generator can be golden. Of course, the biggest factor for most people nowadays is the tremendous environmental benefit of replacing traditional energy producers with generators. Wind generators are extremely environmentally friendly, as no pollutants are created by harnessing wind power. Wind generators are beginning to become a trendy choice to show one’s environmentally conscious lifestyle and their proactive personalities.

The only minor environmental drawbacks to home wind power generators are the possibilities of bird endangerment. If a bird flies through the generators there is an extremely likely chance that they will not survive. However, this is a small price to pay, as the pollution caused by other energy sources cause much more damage comparatively. So ask yourself: is a wind turbine right for me? If it is, do not be afraid to step into a new frontier of energy production.

Why I Choose a Jogging Stroller

Posted: under General Interest.

I was running on the treadmill at my local gym when a new mother hopped onto the treadmill next to me. Much to my surprise she was holding her baby. I asked her why she was carrying that new baby on a treadmill. She said she couldn’t bear to part with her little one, yet still wanted to get a workout in. After about ten minutes she was extremely tired and her baby was crying. Now what? Well within a few days I saw her again. This time she wasn’t at the gym. She was running outside the gym. She was jogging behind her nice, new jogging stroller. Mom was happier and her baby was happy too.

I have had several moms e-mail and ask “Is a jogging stroller right for me?” Well there are a few factors to consider.

First, if you prefer to run on the treadmill at the gym then you probably won’t need a jogging stroller. However, if you are like me and enjoy running outside and spending time with your baby then a jogging stroller is the best way to go.

When you choose to buy a jogging stroller don’t forget important safety features like a hand brake and wheel locks for easy stopping, safety belts and the five point harness. Your child’s safety should always come first. The five point harness is great for toddlers and small children.

Also consider your child’s comfort. You may want to look into a reclining seat and a canopy. It is also a good idea to wait until your child is holding his or her head up and sitting independently before using the jogging stroller. However, there are safety products you can buy if you would like to use your jogging stroller sooner.

When we’re running in cool or cold weather, we may be hot or comfortable in minimal clothing, but a child is not doing the exercise. Don’t forget to dress your little one in warm clothes, especially if you’re running or walking in the wind. Short runs are best with your child. Competing while pushing your running stroller is not recommended.

I prefer a jogging stroller versus a regular stroller because I enjoy being outside. I have found that my jogging stroller makes it a lot easier to push on non-paved roads and it moves at a faster pace
